And I didn't even notice it until now! I'm both absentminded and apparently quite determined to work myself to death... A bad combination!
But it really is true: The readers of Goodreads M/M Romance have nominated Alphabet Soup in the BDSM category of the 2011 Members Choice Awards. If you feel like it, you can vote for it here - and you can see a lot of other great books nominated (among other several stories by Kate Sherwood). By the way, the M/M Romance group is wonderful - I can recommend it. Ironically, I've banned myself from going there very often; it's that good. I would never get anything written if I allowed myself to go! But if you haven't got a novel to finish, it's a wonderful group:). I was so happy to find out that Alphabet Soup is a Bestseller on Fictionwise - it's actually number 2 in its category at the moment! And it's selling very well on other sites, too.
Perhaps it's because I'm a relatively newly published author (it has only been a year since my first book came out) but I still think it's a little bit of a miracle that people read what I write. Not only because I feel flattered (even though I do, big time!), but because it's an amazing thought that there are people all over the world, sitting in their sofas or beds and reading about MY characters, sharing MY fictional world. And the whole e-book thing makes it even crazier; I got the first reader mail less than 24 hours after Alphabet Soup was published. Writing in itself is wonderful, but getting read and appreciated? Words can't describe it. And that's saying something, coming from an author:). Okay, okay, I might be exaggerating a little. But you can buy Alphabet Soup several places by now. Here's a couple of them: Amazon and AllRomance (ebooks) - and you can get it in print at Amazon and other places as well. And of course you can get it at Torquere Press as an ebook and in print as well - that way, you support my favorite publisher!
Yeah, yeah, so yesterday I was all academic and philosophical about reviews. Today I'm ruining any attempt at scholarly distance by running around in happy little circles after reading this amazing review from Coffee Time Romance, which gives Alphabet Soup five cups out of five. Not only is it an amazing review, but I found the definition of 5 cups: "Ultra Rare Extraordinary Read. Not many books will be rated a 5. It is a superior work!"
I mean, how can you not be stupidly happy after that:) Well, actually, it was yesterday. But the good people at Torquere Press were updating their website so you might have had problems finding it. All is well now (and the website is all redone and pretty), so go here to find I Like You. It's your chance to meet Andy and CK again and figure out what the evil author hid in Alphabet Soup:)
... something odd in Alphabet Soup? It's well hidden, but it's there - and you'll find out what it is when you read "I Like You", my sip featuring Andy and CK, coming out this Saturday (May 7 2011). Yeah, I'm a mean, mean author;).
I was writing a ficlet for the Torquere newsletter, and it got completely out of hand. As a matter of fact, it almost ended up as another Sip, but I decided to get a grip and finish it. So if you want to know a bit more about Jeff from Alphabet Soup, go here to read more. Warning: Very hot!
Alphabet Soup is being published today! I can't wait to share the story of a hurt young man meeting the hottest, most caring Dom out there.
If you'd like to know a bit more, I'm featured author at Torquere Press - read more about Alphabet Soup (and your humble author) here. It's also the day for A Russian Bear to see the light of day in print - go here to get your copy. As a matter of fact, I've got several - release dates, that is. I'm going to share my fictional friends with you in only a few months: "Himiko" will be published on February 9, 2011, and "Alphabet Soup" on April 27 along with the print edition of "A Russian Bear". I can't wait to have them out.
Editing, on the other hand, is something I try not to think about at the moment. It's not even that I don't like it; I'm nerdy enough that I actually think it's kind of fun. I've just been all written out these last couple of weeks. Well, I guess that was to be expected after the pace I've been keeping, so I'm just taking a break right now, reading for fun and reconnecting with my couch. Who said an author's life isn't exciting? It's been a good couple of weeks: Three contracts signed! One of them is for the print edition of "A Russian Bear", and then there's my slightly sci-fiish what-if novel, "Himiko". And then, this week, Torquere decided to publish my story about Andy, too. So far, it's called "Alphabet Soup", and while it's still BDSM, it's quite different from "A Russian Bear." Both novels will be published in print as well as e-book editions.
Now I think I need a little break from writing - I might go and check my "new books" folder on my computer... |
